Rod Serling on the television biz

A couple days ago I posted a two-part interview of Rod Serling from 1970s, which was intended for a documentary but sadly was not included, ending up on the cutting room floor until recently.

Today I present an earlier interview from the 1960s between Mike Wallace and Serling in promotion of his “new show” the Twilight Zone, which serves as a good companion piece to the previous posted interview.

Mike Wallace interviews Rod Serling on his success and the difficulties associated with writing for television: financial opportunities, sponsorship/censorship, hack-writing, and more:

Mike Wallace was/is such a square – never deviates from his script, which I am sure was prepared, at least in part, by his staff of writers.

Watch Part 2 and Part 3.
