Euphemism

Chaucer, the bawdy wit

And English pioneer,

Hath in his magnum opus writ

The slyest pun for rear!

The tail-end of the Miller’s song,

Verse offensive to the noblest ear,

The carnal phrase doth lie.

Tis that can never see but winks;

The bottom eye.

Composed by Martin Baena in March of 2013 upon completion of Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales
